Mr. Harry Leverne Shoemake, 77, left his earthly body and walked into the arms of Jesus on September 17, 2024 with his family by his side. Friends will be received from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 19th 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, and during other times at the home. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 20th at St. John Freewill Baptist Church in Patrick, SC where he was a faithful member his entire life. The committal service will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shoemake was born on June 11, 1947 in Darlington, SC to the late Lonnie Edward Shoemake and Edith Talbert Shoemake and grew up in Patrick, SC. As a young red-haired, freckled-faced boy, he was raised in a loving home with his older brother and two sisters. After high school, he signed up for the Army and was drafted to courageously fight in the Vietnam War where he received the prestigious Purple Heart Medal.

Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Shoemake came home and married the love of his life, Linda. They built a loving family together while he worked faithfully at Sonoco where he retired after 35 years. During his many years of attending St. John FWB Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent, trustee, and deacon. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his red scooter around and watching every western that was ever made.

He loved making memories and laughing with his family. His proudest life accomplishment was knowing he built a firm foundation in Jesus. In walking by faith, he left a strong legacy of serving Christ to his loving family.

He leaves behind to cherish the memories made with him: his adoring wife of 54 years, Linda Judy Shoemake, and their daughters Michelle (Pastor Scott) Wallace and Jennifer (Mike) Crawford. Also left with many stories of their Pa are his grandchildren: Morgan Wallace Sloan, Pastor Nicholas (Kaitlyn) Wallace, Mackenzie (CJ) Gibson, and Michael Crawford. Bringing him much happiness at the end of his life were his great-grandchildren: Emett Sloan, Teagan Sloan, and Jacey Gibson. Mr. Shoemake also leaves behind to cherish special times, his sisters: Tillie (Richard) Scott and Retha Roscoe and also his sister-in-law Brenda Gayle (Cecil) McLain. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, those who were waiting at the gates of Heaven to greet him with open arms were his brother, William Edward Shoemake and his in-laws, Howard and Vera Judy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cheraw Dialysis for their exceptional dialysis care and to Allen Steele and Nora Kilton from Guardian Transportation Services for taking such care transporting him weekly.
