The following obituary is being posted as a courtesy to the local family and friends of Mr. Mewshaw On behalf of the MRC Funeral Home family, our thoughts and prayers are with the Mewshaw family during this time.

On Monday, August 28, 2023, Harry C. Mewshaw, Jr passed away. He was predeceased by his precious wife Carolyn Nieberlein Mewshaw. He leaves behind their 4 daughters and sons-in-laws: Donna & Brian Muser of Hanover, PA; Robin Patch of Fredericksburg, VA; Philipp Patch of Yuma, Arizona; Karen & Gary Cress of Cobbtown, GA and JoAnn & Shawn DiMaggio of Westminster, MD. Harry also had 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger sister Janine (& Dave) Lovell of Chesterfield, SC. However, predeceased, by his older sister Barbara Jones Chavis of Wallace, SC.

 

Harry served as a proud member of the Maryland National Guard. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for many years and took his dog Barkly to do hospital visitation. As a Maryland native, Harry was a graduate of Parkville High School. He lived in Chesterfield, SC from 2005-2021 and was active with Shiloh United Methodist Church. After that, he came back home to Maryland the last few years.

 

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, there will be a Celebration of Life from 12-4 pm at Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department’s Social Hall in Hanover, PA.

 

Interment will be at 11 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Chesterfield, SC where he will join his beloved wife.
