Mr. Harry Atwood Board, Jr., age 86, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 12, 2019 at First United Methodist Church by Rev. Kim Eanes and Rev. Ken Timmerman with the eulogy being delivered by Rev. Dean Parker. The burial will follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Board was born November 17, 1932 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Harry A. Board, Sr. and Bessie Helen Wallace Board. He was a former employee of Burlington Industries and retired from Highland Industries with 48 years, and 2 months of service. Mr. Board was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church where he was a former member of the Financial Committee and the Pastor – Parish Relations Committee. Harry enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, and following the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed traveling, grilling, and spending time with his family and friends. A man of wisdom and wit, Mr. Board will be fondly remembered for his humorous personality and ability to share a joke.

In addition to his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Atwood Board; siblings, Hazel Board, Wallace Hardin Board, Myrtle Louise Board Lord, Edna Earle Turnage, James Henry Board, and William Russell “Buddy” Board.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Board of the home; devoted daughter, Patti Board and fiancé, Tony Loesch of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Preston Stanley of Tulsa, OK, and Andrea Loesch of Asheville, NC; sister-in-law, Cristina Board of Tampa, FL; granddaughter of the heart, Bradley Parker; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge their thanks to the staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Chesterfield for the love and care shown to Mr. Board and their family.
