HISTORY: Mrs. Smith was born February 19, 1941 in Hartsville, SC a daughter of the late Johnny N. Griggs and Almena G. Griggs. She was a member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Bo-Buck Mill. Hazel was married to the late James W. Smith, Sr. and was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred "Albert" Griggs.

1 Son: James W. Smith, Jr. and wife Patty of Bennettsville, SC
3 Daughters: Margaret A. Griggs and husband Bobby Joe of Cheraw, SC, Geraldine Butler and husband Keith of Chesterfield, SC, and Claudia Stafford and husband Jerry of Chesterfield, SC
6 Sisters: Betty Brown of Patrick, SC, Helen Griggs of Chesterfield, SC, Johnny Carol Kelly of Darlington, SC, Lois Vaughn, and Marie Semiklose both of Hartsville, SC, and Vivian Byrd of California
Also: 9 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren
