Helen T. Griggs

Cheraw, SC

Mrs. Helen T. Griggs, age 70, entered into rest on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday October 7, 2017, at the Cheraw Church Of God by Pastors Russell Miles and R.P. Grice, with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet and receive friends Saturday, October 7 2017, from 11:00-12:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home in Chesterfield, SC.

Mrs. Griggs was born July 28, 1947, in Cheraw, SC, a daughter of the late John R. and Agnes Godbold Thompson. She was a former social worker and counselor and received her master's degree from Webster University. Helen was a faithful member of Cheraw Church of God where she was active in the Children's Ministry, the Bereavement Committee, and was a member of the Bible study group. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and sharing her baked goodies with her church family. Helen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her husband, Buff DeRohn "Ronnie" Griggs;1 brother Tony Thompson;  and by 2 sisters Barbara Treece and Brenda Thompson.

Survivors include 2 sons, Sammy Smith of Rockingham, NC, and Rohn Griggs of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Sherry Smith (Jim) Messer of Greenville, SC; 3 grandchildren, Rynai Smith, Whitley Griggs, and Jillian Bennett; and 1 sister, Sylvia Thompson Coley, of the home.
