Mrs. Ida Belle Wilkes Stevens, age 96, won her battle after a long illness on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. William Griggs with burial to follow in the Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stevens was born February 21, 1923 in Hartsville, SC a daughter of the late Alex and Bertha Brown Wilkes. She was a retired employee of Duracell and a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Ida Belle enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed their mountain trips. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Ida Belle was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Stevens; brothers, Monroe, Otis, Jack, A.J., Eugene, Pete, and Dewey Wilkes.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Stevens, George Stevens, and Bobby Joe Stevens all of the home, J.G. Stevens of Kershaw, SC, Katie (Ed) Pair of Lancaster, SC, and Daphine (Johnny) Black of Ruby, SC; 3 grandchildren, Jeb (Alene) Pair, Kristie (Dwayne) Davis, and Austin Pair; great grandchildren, Preston Davis, Shelby Davis, Bella Grace Davis, Jake Pair, and Luke Pair; and sister, Louise (David) Gainey of Hartsville, SC.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to family friend and caregiver, Faye Moore for her love and care shown to Mrs. Stevens through the years.
