Mr. James Christopher "Chris" McAllister, age 58, entered into rest on Friday morning, November 22, 2024 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Dr. Steve West, Rev. Wayne Burr, and Richard Carnes with burial to follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Employees of Sandhill Telephone Cooperative are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Born on August 16, 1966, in Quincy, IL, Chris was the son of the late John James McAllister and Cleo Hurst McAllister. He dedicated over 24 years of service to Sandhill Telephone Cooperative as a construction supervisor and previously worked at Griggs & Son Inc. Chris was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending FreeWorship.

 

Chris was known for his devotion to family and was a proud father, serving not only as a parent but also as a mentor to many of his sons’ friends. He took joy in teaching them in his workshop and shared many cherished moments camping at the lake and beach. An avid outdoorsman, Chris was often found mowing his yard or watching deer and wildlife. His outgoing personality and sense of humor made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. McAllister was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Goodwin.

 

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Susie Burr McAllister of the home; sons, Cody McAllister, and Wyatt McAllister both of Chesterfield, SC; siblings, Pamela (Donald) Dawson, Paula (Bill) Coleman, Stacey Holle, Elizabeth Anne (Reggie) Gainer, Rose Marie Odeh all of Missouri, and Michael Laird of GA; mother-in-law, Doris Jean Burr Gleich of Chesterfield, SC; sister-in-law, Shannon (Billy) Jones of Surfside Beach, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org). Chris had a profound respect for veterans and our US flag, and honored his father's military service through his charitable contributions.
