HISTORY: Mr. Hurst was born November 4, 1924 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late John Oscar and Pauline Middleton Hurst. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and was a farmer and retired businessman. Chap was the former owner of two service stations in Cheraw, SC, a dry cleaners, and Ford Auto Dealership in Chesterfield, SC, and he retired as owner and operator of Hurst Wholesales in 1993. Mr. Hurst was a Mason, State Director with the SC Farm Bureau, member of Chesterfield County Farm Bureau Board, and was a former member and chairman of the USDA Farm Service Agency for some 20 years. Chap was a long time member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Adult Men's Bible Class and the Men's Club. Chap enjoyed talking with people and making new friends. In addition to his parents, Chap was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Chapman Hurst, a brother, W. M. Hurst, and a sister, Octavia Harrell.
