James "Ervin" Griffin

Pageland, SC

Mr. James Ervin Griffin, age 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, after a valiant battle with a long-term illness for over 15 years. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Ervin loved his Lord and Savior, and he knew he was going home with Him when it was his time.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin was born on November 21, 1957, in Monroe, North Carolina, a son of the late Haskell Griffin and the late Barbara Mangum Hargett. He was a loyal husband, heroic father, proud grandfather, loving brother, and dear friend.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Mills Griffin of the home; one son, Daniel Griffin and his wife Jessica of Pageland, SC; one daughter, Rebecca Geer and her husband Matthew of Pageland, SC; one brother, Alfred Griffin and his wife Debbie of Monroe, NC; and four grandchildren: Carla, Collin, Carys, and Celsey Griffin of Pageland, SC.

Mr. Griffin was a hard-working, skilled farmer who was the owner/operator of a poultry farm for over 21 years and the owner/operator of a dairy farm for over 8 years. He also grew row crops for over 29 years. Ervin enjoyed traveling and going out to eat with his family, fishing, and going to dirt track races. His wit and delightful sense of humor will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for having such a giving spirit and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Mr. Griffin’s final wish would be for all of his friends and family to surrender their hearts and lives to the Lord.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of his caregivers, especially Hospice of Chesterfield County. Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Griffin to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709
