Mr. Jeffery L. Snipes, age 65, affectionately known as "King Jethro Bodine" entered into rest on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Rose Memorial Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Scott Gibson and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the First Baptist Church of Pageland Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Snipes was born April 18, 1958 in Monroe, NC a son of the late Grady Leon and Sue Raffaldt Snipes. His mother helped to establish the first Trainable Class with the Chesterfield County School District in 1969 where he attended. From May 1975 onwards, Mr. Snipes became a student at Prince Carr School (CHESCO), where he was part of the inaugural class of 18 students. Later on, he joined CHESCO Services and contributed as a member of both the cleaning crew and yard crew. Additionally, Mr. Snipes enjoyed his time working at the original Bargain Basket of Pageland.
Mr. Snipes was a charter member of Rose Memorial Church of the Nazarene. He was very talented in ceramic crafts and was known for his creative rope skills. Riding his golf cart and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. Additionally, Mr. Snipes had a particular fondness for watching Deal or No Deal and admired all 26 ladies on the show.
Jeffery will be remembered for his exceptional sense of humor and his trademark bear hugs that he readily shared with others.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Snipes was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Buddy Hendrix; and uncle, Donald Purgason.
Survivors include his sisters, Carol Snipes Hendrix, and Sharon Snipes Deese both of Pageland, SC; his special Uno playing aunts, Dale (Ron) Florence of Winton Salem, NC, and Ann Purgason of Stokesdale, NC; aunt, Frances (Paulie) Campbell of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews; and his extended family at CHESCO Services.
The family would like to express a very special Thank You to Chaplain Tony Clark, Nurse Erica Johnson, CNA Hannah Williams and Volunteer Millie Abernathy and the staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield for their extraordinary care, compassion, and friendship during this difficult time.
