Mr. Jerry Gene Smith, age 76, entered into rest on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Kyle Oliver and Pastor Mark Phillips with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born January 29, 1943 in Kannapolis, NC a son of the late Leonard Jerome and Janie Florence Hancock Smith. He retired as Assistant Manager of Gerrard Tire with over 36 years of service. Jerry was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church and a former member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as former deacon, R.A. Leader and choir member. His hobbies included singing, listening to music, watching sports, car restoration, eating jelly beans, and playing board and card games. Jerry enjoyed time spent with his family  and friends camping and going on cruises.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Robert Smith; and brother-in-law, Bobby Sellers.

Survivors include his devoted wife of nearly 46 years, Mary G. Smith of the home; son, Matthew (Faye) Smith of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Destiny Smith of Chesterfield, SC and Joseph Smith of Chesterfield, SC; great grandchild, Nicole Smith of Ruby, SC; brothers, Charles (Mary) Smith of Chesterfield, SC, and William Smith of Ruby, SC; sister, Joyce Sellers of Ruby, SC; numerous nieces and nephews, his church family and friends, and his beloved pet, “Scruffy”.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, Attn: “Choir Fund” or “S.H.I.N.E. youth group”, c/o Stacy Jenkins, 6178 Airport Rd, Mt. Croghan, SC 29727.
