Mr. Jimmy Lee Morton died at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, June 10, 2021 after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was 79. There will be a Celebration of Mr. Jimmy’s life & sharing of memories from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with closing reflections being offered by Randall Gainey and special music by granddaughter, Addison Morton.
One of eleven children born to the late B.J. and Mary Jane Taylor Morton, he was a retired textile worker who enjoyed the simple way of life. From fishing anytime or just spending time with his greatest joys – his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include wife of 59 years, Lexie Gibson Morton of the home; daughter, Debbie (Marty) Sellers of Ruby; sons, Randy (Tammie) Morton of Chesterfield, Mark (Doris) Morton of Cheraw, and Jimmy Alan (Tiffany) Morton of Ruby; grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Morton, Makayla (Daniel) Curtis, Ariana Sellers, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Addison, and Brayden Morton; great grandchildren, Jannessa, Randi Lynne, Adrian, and Peyton Morton; brothers, Bobby Morton of Marshville, NC, Vance Morton of Ruby, Samp Morton of Chesterfield, and B.J. Morton of Chesterfield; sisters, Mary Mills of Ruby, Barbara Gibson, Elizabeth Hunter, Linda Hurst, Janis Morton all of Chesterfield, and Brenda Shaw of Patrick, SC; and his constant companion, “Princess.”
The family would like to thank the staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice (Kristen, Beverly, Brittney, and Jessica) for their kind and compassionate care of their loved one.
