A Celebration of Life Service for Miss Joan and Miss Jean Gaskins will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Hopewell Baptist Church officiated by the Honorable Rep. Pastor Richie Yow and General David Coffman. The inurnment service of Joan Gaskins, Jean Gaskins, Betty Zane Gaskins, and Mary Ella Gaskins Lisenby will follow in the church cemetery.
Joan and Jean Gaskins born October 1, 1934, in Chesterfield, SC were the late daughters of Carl and Jessie Gulledge Gaskins. Both sisters were former employees of Sacony and Chesterfield Manufacturing. Being lifelong members of Hopewell Baptist Church, Joan and Jean were loving daughters, sisters, and friends to all. They lived their entire life on the Gaskins property in Chesterfield, humbly devoted to faith, family, community, and country.
In addition to their parents, Joan and Jean were also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ella Lisenby, Charlotte Bagwell, Madge Dixon, Peggy Coffman, and Betty Gaskins.
Joan and Jean were the last of the seven Gaskins girls, and are survived by special “sisters,” Linda Davis, Annelle Teal, Jayne Watson, and Terry Campbell; nephew-in-law, Mark Fortier, and son, Steven Fortier; nieces, Beth, Peggy, Susie, and Charlene; nephews, David, Mike, Tommy, James, and Eddie; and numerous great nephews and great nieces, lots of cousins, and so many friends.
