Joanne Taylor Horton

Jefferson, SC 

 Mrs. Joanne Taylor Horton, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the home of her granddaughter. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church by Pastor Curtis Laney and Reverend Robin Hewitt with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Thursday, prior to the service at the church. 

 Mrs. Horton was born February 1, 1943 in Monroe, NC a daughter of the late Edward and Azilee Melton Taylor. She was a retired employee of Culp Weaving with over 20 years of service and a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Joanne devoted her time volunteering at MUSC Lancaster and actively supported the McDonald Green Volunteer Fire Department's annual BBQ event. Renowned for her love for family, Mrs. Horton radiated joy and was the life of the party and center of everyone’s attention at each family gathering. 

 In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horton was also preceded in death by her husband, George L. Horton; brother, Ray Taylor; and sister, Juanita Price.

 Survivors include her daughter, Renee (Richard) Jones of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Ginger (Clint) Sowell of Heath Springs, SC, Seth Jones, Dustin Jones, and Dena (Chris) Adams all of Lancaster, SC; great grandchildren, Taylor Sowell, Torrie Sowell, Baylee Adams, Kaylee Jones, and Braelon Adams; sister-in-law, Judy Taylor of Belmont, NC; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Price of Rock Hill, SC.
