HISTORY: Mr. Hammonds was born October 28, 1920 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late Walter and Catherine Steen Hammonds. He was a retired employee of Chesterfield County with 30 plus years of service, and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Hammonds was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, J.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Mills Hammonds; 6 brothers; 4 sisters; and 1 grandson, Travis Hammonds.
