INTERMENT: will follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home


HISTORY: Mr. Hancock was born January 2, 1923 in Ruby, SC a son of the late Andrew Luther "Luke" and Mary Massie Sellers Hancock. He was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Hancock was a member of the American Legion Post 74 and Oakland Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Gennie James Hancock and four brothers, Andrew, Hardy, Jack, and Carl Hancock.

2 Sons: Harold (Gale) Hancock and Martin (Barbara) Hancock both of Cheraw, SC
1 Daughter: Frances H. Rivers and Joe Barfield of Chesterfield, SC
3 Grandchildren: Coy Phillips Rivers, Danny Barfield, David Carlton Hancock, and Amanda Port
2 Great Grandchildren: David C. Hancock, Jr. and Jesse Hancock
1 Sister: Carnell H. "Sis" Hancock of Kannapolis, NC
