Mr. Teal was born October 31, 1929 in Kannapolis. He was the son of the late Alton Ray Teal, Sr. and Carrie Davis Teal. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He retired from Pilot Trucking where he was a long haul truck driver for over 30 years. He was known as the flea market Boot Man. John was an avid NASCAR racing fan and was a huge Kyle Busch fan because no one else in the family liked Kyle Busch. John also loved to fish. He never met a stranger. He was very proud that he got to meet Tanya Tucker, Crystal Gayle and Conway Twitty.
He lived a simple, wonderful life with his wife and children. He was the backbone of his family and adored his grandchildren. He was loved by so many and we will continue to love life and keep things going as Pop would have wanted.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Belle Graves Teal; brother, Alton Ray Teal, Jr.; and sister, Joan Teal Rivers.
Mr. Teal is survived by his daughter, Lynn Teal Shires and husband Gary of Locust; son, Larry Teal of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Brandi Morgan and husband Billy, Chris Shires and wife Laura and Rob Shires; and a great granddaughter, Brooke Morgan.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1730 Womble Hill Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
