John W. Hudson, Jr.

Mr. John Wesley Hudson, Jr., age 69, (formerly of Pageland, SC) entered into rest on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 24, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Mack Mullis with burial to follow in the First Baptist Church of Pageland Cemetery with full military honors. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Hudson was born January 16, 1950 in Greer, SC a son of the late John Wesley Hudson, Sr. and Gladys Ernestine “Teenie” Turner Hudson. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran serving our great country for over 22 years. Mr. Hudson served two tours during the Vietnam War and was a decorated soldier earning the Navy “E - 4” Ribbon. He was also the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also attained the Combat Action ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment ribbon, and was awarded the Good Conduct Award four times during his military career.

Mr. Hudson was a member of the MacArthur Masonic Lodge #427 in Goose Creek, SC. His hobbies included playing golf, watching NASCAR, and restoring antique cars. He was a car enthusiast who specialized in any model of Corvettes.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy C. Hudson; an infant daughter, Shannon Hudson; and 1 brother, Tim Hudson.

Survivors include his children, Meg (Ronnie) Ward of Goose Creek, SC, Amanda (Kevin) Moore of Summerville, SC, and Hannah Hudson of Goose Creek, SC; 4 grandchildren, Bailey, Wesley, Abby, and Kevin, Jr.; siblings, Brenda (Doug) Hicks of Pageland, SC, Mark (Sandra) Hudson of Westville, SC, Mike Hudson, Sr. of FL, and Chris (Cheryl) Hudson of AL; and numerous niece and nephews.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
