Mr. Joseph Christopher “Chris” Rainey, age 47, entered into rest on Thursday, April 4, 2024. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, April 8, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the White Hill Cemetery officiated by Reverend Jeff Gardner.
Mr. Rainey was born January 26, 1977 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Russell “Sparky” Rainey and Mary Helen Malloy Rainey. He was a 1995 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Chris was a former employee of Rob’s Repair of Chesterfield and was currently employed with the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center as Head of Engineering, with over 19 years of service.
A young man with a huge heart, Chris had a special place in his heart for all animals. From raising chickens and goats, to bottle feeding new born calf’s, he would always make sure they were taken care of. He was most proud of being a “Superhero” to his son Christian. Chris loved all of his family and friends and will be forever remembered for his “All or Nothing” personality.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rainey was also preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia Jones, Jacqueline Metro, Sheila Rainey, Russell Rainey, Jr., Hanley Rainey, and Gerald Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Rainey; children, Addison Rainey, Emma Rainey, Mallory Pierce, Christian Rainey, Kamron Reiff, and Laken Reiff; nieces of the heart, Breezi Scott, Summer Scott, and Savannah Feagin; sister, Caroline Hall of Flint, MI; brothers, Rob (Erica) White, and Tommy Williams both of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces and nephews including Jodecia DiCicco.
Chris’s family is thankful he was able to be an organ donor and give the gift of life to many others. Even in his death, his life was about others!
