Joseph Wesley Howard, Jr.

March 4, 1965 — February 12, 2025

Joseph Wesley Howard, Jr.

Ruby, SC.

Beloved and Hilarious Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Pappy, Uncle, and Friend.

Joe was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Joseph Howard Sr. and the late Celia [Rappe] Howard. He attended Sun Valley High School in Indian Trail, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1987 with his Bachelors in Anthropology and Sociology. He spent much of his career as a master home builder.

As much as Joe loved to keep busy tinkering and working on personal projects, he always found time to help those he cared about, and to make them laugh. Joe loved his family more than anything, and he especially enjoyed his time spent being the best Pappy in the world to his precious granddaughter, Louise.

Although words cannot describe the pain we feel parting ways, there is solace in all of the wonderful memories, jokes, and antics Joe provided for those fortunate enough to be around him throughout his 59 years of life.

Joe is survived by his father Joseph Howard Sr.; his loving wife of 37 years, Sherri [Blythe] Howard; children, Joshua Howard [Brooke], Lauren Howard; sister Dawn [Howard] Auten [Jeff]; one sweet granddaughter, Louise Howard; many nephews and nieces; as well as his favorite canine companion, Stubby Howard.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, 2/23 at New Covenant Baptist Church in Monroe, North Carolina, from 2-4pm, 5114 Rogers Rd, Monroe, NC, 28110

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chesterfield Food Bank.

The family also asks that you please honor Joe by remembering not to take life too seriously.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Howard family.
