HISTORY: Mrs. Gulledge was born November 24, 1934, in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late John Wallace and Anna Tyner Brewington. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School Class of 1954. Mrs. Gulledge was a homemaker and a loving child care provider, and became second Mom to many children. She was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served as first chairperson of the Welcome Committee, a member of the WMU, and a former Sunday School and VBS teacher and G.A. Leader.
Juanita was a collector of natural beauty. She saw something in everything, driftwood that takes on the shape of a pelican, a hollow log that becomes the perfect planter for her petunias, and sea shells that serve as a border for her flower gardens. Weather board from her father-in-law's old tobacco barn that announces you have entered "Juanita's Paradise". Her love of nature and her gift of seeing something more than just a rock or piece of wood, has created a unique refuge outside her backdoor. A lot of her treasures were found on nature walks with her grandchildren. Juanita was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her vegetables and flowers with others. In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, George and Jessie Brewington and by 2 sisters, Dealice Windham and Lola Broadway
