Mrs. Katheryn Greene Deese Madden, age 86, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Graveside services will be 2:00 O’clock PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Todd Montgomery and Rev. Don Rhyne. The family will greet friends following the service.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and face coverings are strongly encouraged.
Mrs. Madden was born July 23, 1935 in Lancaster County, SC a daughter of the late John and Nettie Faulkenberry Greene. Katheryn was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. She enjoyed receiving cards from her Sunday school class and loved her pastor, Rev. Todd Montgomery. Katheryn was a jokester and never met a stranger. Her family was her greatest love. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and fur-baby, Trixie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by her husband; Jessie Clifton Deese Jr.; second husband, Mitchell Madden; sons, Roger Dale Deese and Barry M. Madden; grandchildren, Nathan Deese and Jeremy Deese, Danny Deese Jr, Cory Cassidy, and Jason Lee Childers; in addition to numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons; Danny (Mary) Deese of Lancaster, SC, Jeffrey (Brenda) Deese of Pageland, SC, Scotty (Amy) Deese of Kershaw, SC; son of the heart, John Adams of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Mary Katheryn (Pete) of Kershaw, SC, John Clifton Ray Deese of Kershaw, SC, Sarah Jessica Deese of Bishopville, SC, Ashley Jill (Tony) Freeman of Lancaster, SC, Jeffrey Johnathan (Ashley) Deese of Heath Springs, SC, Christopher (Rebecca) Madden of Kershaw, SC, William Henry (Chrissy) Madden of Edgefield SC, William Eric (Brittany) Deese of Pensacola, FL, Crystal Michelle (Cory) Jenkins of Kershaw, SC, and Lynn (Chad) Reeves of Mt. Pisgah, SC; 20 great grandchildren,1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Mildred Criminger of Florence, SC, Shelby Criminger of Summerville, SC, Eula Roberts of Rock Hill, SC and Margaret Greene of Lancaster, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
