Mrs. Kathryn Gayle Smith Chavis, age 69, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Friday, June 16, 2017 at True Gospel Emmanuel Holiness Church by Rev. James Croke and Rev. Chad Watson with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC.

Mrs. Chavis was born August 14, 1947 in Marlboro County, SC a daughter of the late Ernest Smith, Sr. and Blanche Grant Smith. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Kathryn was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed reading and playing computer games.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chavis was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Ernest “Uncle Jr.” Smith, Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Frank Chavis of the home; 2 children, Jackie Chavis of Mooresville, NC, and Chris (Sarah) Chavis of Chesterfield, SC; 6 grandchildren, Karen Chavis, Alan Chavis, Kristen Chavis, Clinton Chavis, Jacob Chavis, and Liberty Chavis; brother, Charles Smith of Wallace, SC.
