Kathy Kearns

Jefferson, SC Mrs. Kathy Kearns, age 66, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.

Mrs. Kearns was born February 20, 1950 in Monroe, NC a daughter of the late Julious and Genna Davidson Helms. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Kearns had a love for everyone and was very nurturing, supportive, and attentive to her family. She will be fondly remembered as a doting mother who was proud of her sons, daughters-in-law, and entire family. Her favorite pastime was taking care of her grandson, Kade.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Helms.

Survivors include her best friend and significant other, Jerry Melton of the home; 2 sons, Derrick Kearns of Washington, D.C., and Shane (Marsha) Kearns of Mt. Croghan, SC; step-sons, Lane (Myra) Melton of McBee, SC and Lee (Christina) Melton of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Kade Kearns, Cale Nicholson, and Kaitlyn Nicholson; 1 sister, Linda Deese of Pageland, SC; step-grandchildren, Clifton (Desiree) Melton of N. Augusta, SC, Samantha Melton of Columbia, SC; Diana (Michael) Martin of Irmo, SC, and Carrie Melton of Columbia, SC; 1 step-great grandchild, Jace Martin
