Kathy Rivers Gainey

Mrs. Kathy Rivers Gainey, age 62, received her angel wings on Friday, July 27, 2018. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Pine Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Mark Phillips.  The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary of the church.

Mrs. Gainey was born November 6, 1955, in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of Opal Brock Rivers and the late C.M. Rivers. She was a former employee of Sash & Door in Cheraw, SC, and Cheraw Feed and Seed.  A member of Brock’s Mill Baptist Church, Mrs. Gainey loved children, shopping, and getting her hair done.  She will be remembered for her delicious cakes and homemade biscuits.  One of her favorite pastimes was cooking and inviting all of her family to come over. Her grandchildren will always be remembered as the apple of her eye.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Gainey was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jimmy Rivers and Robert Rivers.

Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Bryan  K. Gainey, of the home; 2 daughters, Charlene (Larry) Blackman of Bennettsville, SC, and Crystal (Chris) Brock of Cheraw, SC; mother, Opal Brock Rivers of Cheraw, SC; 6 grandchildren, Clayton (Sera Reep) Brock, Cole Brock, Matthew Reep, Kayla Blackman, Avery Blackman, and Sara Rylee Blackman; 4 great grandchildren, Claira Brock, Zayden Bloomfield, Gerric Bloomfield, and Justin Smith; sisters, Bonnie (Brooks) Boan, Teresa (Tim) Rivers, and Michelle (Chris) Ross, all of Cheraw, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved pet, "Brandy."
