MEMORIAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC
INTERMENT: will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC with Military honors
VISITATION: will be 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, prior to the service at the funeral home
HISTORY: Mr. Rivers was born December 25, 1930 in Mt. Croghan, SC, a son of the late Ralph King and Martha "Mattie" Summerford Rivers. He was a graduate of Mt. Croghan High School and was a retired dragline maintenance foreman with Becker Sand and Gravel Company. Kemp was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, NASCAR, cutting grass, and working in the yard. In addition to his parents, Kemp was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Evans Rivers; four brothers, Joseph K. George, Lester, and James Rivers.

2 Sons: Michael "Mike" Rivers and wife Shirley Rivers of Bennettsville, SC and Stephen Rivers and wife Carrole Rivers of McColl, SC
1 Daughter: Brenda Brooks and husband Tony Brooks of Cheraw, SC
5 Grandchildren: Tony (Ashley) Brooks, Tasha (Angel) Sierra, Kiley Rivers, Davan Rivers, and Erick Price
2 Great Grandchildren: Angel "A.J." Sierra and Sophia Sierra
2 Sisters: Grace Sellers of Chesterfield, SC and Margaret (Gene) Sellers of Mt. Croghan, SC
