Mr. Knowlton William Oliver, age 94, entered into rest on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Chesterfield Convalescent Center where he was a resident since June 8, 2007. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Mark Phillips and Rev. Don Rhyne with burial to follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home, 211 S. Craig Street, Chesterfield, SC.
Mr. Oliver was born November 30, 1923 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Levander and Dollie Tucker Oliver. He was a former employee of Springs Industries and retired from the Town of Chesterfield. Mr. Oliver was the oldest living member of Hopewell Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman, Knowlton enjoyed working in his yard and always enjoyed a good dip of Railroad Mills Snuff.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was the oldest living sibling of his family; and was preceded in death by his son, Donald Jay Oliver; grandson, Barry Dean Usher; 3 brothers, Perry, Archie, and David Oliver; sisters, Sarah Brock, Cora Joplin, Gweenie Buckles, Nezzie Tucker, and Katie Lee Burr.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Viola Pittman Oliver of Chesterfield, SC; 2 sons, W.K. (Lisa) Oliver of Pageland, SC, and Ronald Jed Oliver of Chesterfield, SC; 3 daughters, Betty Gulledge of Chesterfield, SC, Joyce Usher of Kershaw, SC, and Violet Hargrove of Chesterfield, SC; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great–great grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.
