Krystan Helms

Mrs. Krystan Simpson Helms, age 38, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church, 11078 Hwy. 151, Jefferson, SC by Dr. Eric Cook. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.

Mrs. Helms was born November 27, 1978 in Monroe, NC a daughter of David Lee and Margaret Thompson Simpson. She was a 1997 graduate of Central High School, where she was crowned “Miss Central” her senior year. Krystan also graduated from USC-L with an Associate’s Degree in business. She was a former freelance photographer for the Link Newspaper and the Pageland Progressive Journal. Her hobbies included sewing, crafting, and cheering on the USC Gamecocks. A beloved daughter, devoted wife, and proud mother, Krystan went above and beyond her call of duty to be involved and active in her children’s lives, from attending each sporting event to being active in the Central High School Band’s Booster Club. Her greatest passion was supporting and being there for her children.

Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, C.P. Simpson.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Donny Helms of the home; daughter, Kaylee Spring Helms; son, Dawson Elliot Helms, both of the home; parents, David and Margaret Simpson of Jefferson, SC; grandmother, Lucy Simpson of Jefferson, SC; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Dennis and Donna Parker; brother-in-law, Chris (Jodie) Parker both of Albemarle, NC; and her beloved pet and family member, “Chico”.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Carolinas Medical Center – Main for the extraordinary care shown to Krystan and her family.

Memorials may be made in memory of Krystan to the Kaylee and Dawson Helms Scholarship Trust Fund, c/o of First Palmetto Bank, 201 N. Pearl Street, Pageland, SC 29728.
