Larry Clark Gaddy passed away October 5, 2020 after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life graveside service will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 9, 2020 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens by Dr. Steve Fitzgerald. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the courtyard of Kevin Lear on Main, 140 2nd Street, Cheraw, SC.
Due to the continued Covid-19 restrictions, the family requests that anyone attending the service to please practice all social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering.
Mr. Gaddy was born June 24, 1953 in Wadesboro, NC to the late Hollis M. and Ester Clark Gaddy. He graduated from Cheraw High School in 1971, and Gardner Webb College in 1975. Larry was a salesman in the brick industry for many years. Larry had many friends from childhood to the present, and nurtured those friendships throughout his adulthood. He was always willing to help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He was known for his pecan pies, and took pleasure in sharing them with family and friends throughout S.C.
Mr. Gaddy lived on his grandparent’s farm in Chesterfield, SC and cherished his time taking care of it. Larry enjoyed antique car restoration and was restoring his grandfather’s 1954 Chevrolet truck. Larry was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cheraw, SC. He gave of his time to his church and enjoyed the fellowship. He was larger than life and will be missed by many. Loved and outspoken, you would get his opinion whether you wanted it or not!
Surviving are numerous cousins including Bill & Glenda Lee, Randy Lee, Billy Frank & Jill Gaddy, and Andy & Christy Gaddy and their families; life-long sweetheart, Betsy Leonard of Charlotte, NC; and his beloved goddaughter, Katharine Stafford Keller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 2 of Mr. Gaddy’s most supported charities, The Thornwell Orphanage, 302 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325, or to The McArn Food Bank, 131 2nd Street, Cheraw, SC 29520.
