Mrs. Laura Lynn Swaim Freeman, age 62, entered into rest on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side. A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Ms. Hannah Williams and Brent Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Freeman was born December 19, 1961 in Reno, NV, a daughter of the late David and Sherry Harwood Swaim. She was a graduate of Pillager High School, Pillager, MN and attended Wadena Technical College. Laura was a customer service representative with Wal-Mart of Cheraw for over 17 years and the former manager of Juniper Junction Convenience Store. A lady with an eye for creativity, Laura enjoyed drawing, working with crafts, and ribbon making. She prided herself in cooking meals for her family. She also loved being outdoors while working in her garden and flower beds, continually pulling weeds, and bird watching. An avid fan of all music, her favorite genre was classic 80's rock. Laura was known to "jam out" while driving or relaxing at the pool. She and her favorite aide had their own special song they would listen to during visits. Most recently, she developed a love for Atlanta Braves baseball and hoped that she would see them play in person someday. Go Braves!
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freeman was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Randy Roy Swaim; and brother-in-law, Chad Mertens.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 39 years, Craig Freeman of the home; daughter, Nicole (Matthew) Lambert of Ruby, SC; grandchildren, Lily Lambert, Lailah Lambert, and Asher Lambert; sister, Debbie Lee Mertens of Motley, MN and her children, Brandon Mertens (Morgan Swenson), and Joshua (Bella) Mertens; aunts whom she loved dearly, Connie (Phil) Cook of FL, Janette (Alfred) Wright of CA, and Kathy (Rob) Mathers of PA; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special Thank You to caregivers and close friends, Hannah Williams and Sabrina Bennett and the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield; and Brandon with Mabry’s Drug & Homecare.
Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield, 205 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Freeman family.
