Ms. Laura Burch Hunt, age 94, entered into rest on Thursday, March 7, 2019. Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church by Pastor Alisha Hansen with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday from 3:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Ms. Hunt was born September 20, 1924 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Robert Huntley Burch, Sr. and Bernice Threadgill Burch. She was formerly employed with Lancaster County School District as a Teacher’s Aide, Martin’s Jewelry of Chesterfield, and was the owner of Laura’s Dress Shop. Ms. Hunt held the distinct honor of being the first lady bailiff in South Carolina. A faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Laura was very active in the U.M.W. and various other church activities. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the Bridge Luncheon Club. Laura loved music and enjoyed attending concerts. She will be fondly remembered for her delicious caramel cakes which were her trademark.
In addition to her parents, Laura was also preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Hope Hunt; sisters, Sara Frances Burch Horton, Lillian E. Burch, Betty Lou Burch, and Mary Catherine Burch; brothers, Robert Huntley Burch, Jr., Frank Marshall Burch, William Moultrie Burch, and Darrell Dominique Burch.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
