Lola Horne Watts Long

Mrs. Lola Horne Watts Long, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, June 27, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Long was born September 1, 1925 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Joe Marshall and Leslie Moree Horne. She was a former employee of Cheraw Yarn Mills and retired from Weller Industries. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cheraw, Lola was a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday school class until her health declined and she was unable to attend. Mrs. Long enjoyed working in her yard and flowers for as long as she could.

In addition to her parents, Lola was also preceded in death by 2 husbands, Leroy Watts and Norman Long; infant grandson, Lee Christopher Watts; and 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Ronnie Lee Watts of Cheraw, SC, and Jimmy W. (Cindy) Watts of Hartsville, SC whom she lovingly referred to as “My Boys”; grandchildren, Monica W. (Jim) Nelson of Hartsville, SC, and Rev. Brian J. (Paige) Watts of Rock Hill, SC; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Horne Sherrin of Pageland, SC.

The family would like to express their thankfulness to the staff of Morrell Nursing Center for the love and care shown to Mrs. Long and her family over the past 5 years.
