Lou Ella Mauldin Rivers

          Mrs. Lou Ella Mauldin Rivers, age 96, entered into rest on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Billy Jack Johnson with burial to follow in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:30 – 4:30 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

          Mrs. Rivers was born July 26, 1926 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Lawson C. and Addie Mae Lee Mauldin. She was a former sales clerk with M&B Department Store and B.C. Moore’s of Cheraw. She was a faithful member of Zoar United Methodist Church where she served on the Bereavement Committee and was very active in the Zoar Senior Circle Lunch Group, where she was affectionately known as the cake lady. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was always sharing her cakes with everyone. A lady who enjoyed being outdoors, Lou Ella could often be found working in her flowers and putting her “green thumb” to work.

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rivers was also preceded in death by her husband, John S. Rivers; children, Mary Ella Rivers White, Johnny Rivers, Jr., and Tommy Rivers; sisters, Loretta M. Parker, and Dalphine M. Sellers; and great – great grandchildren, Maverick and Phoenix Bunting.

          Survivors include her sister, Mary Jo Davidson of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Sherry (Charles) Bunting of Cheraw, SC, Keith (Joni) Rivers of Ruby, SC, Christy Rivers of Rock Hill, SC, Beth (David) Lowery of Cheraw, SC, and John Rivers, III of Rock Hill, SC; son-in-law that she treated like her own son, Henry White of Cheraw, SC; daughter-in-law, Barbara Rivers of Rock Hill, SC; numerous great grandchildren including, Justin (Ashley) Bunting, Brittany Knight, Samantha Knight, Isabella Creech, Jaxon Creech, and Cheyenne Elliot; great - great grandchildren including, Aiden & Emma; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Margaret Sellers, Mildred Ratliff, and Vana Demez.

          The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of CenterWell Home Health of Cheraw for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Lou Ella and her family.
