Major Forrest “Buck” White, III (SCNG Retired), age 51, entered into rest on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Chesterfield Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Bishop and Phillip Caulder, Jr. Burial with full military honors to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery officiated by Rev. Bobby Norris. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. White was born November 28, 1966 in Chesterfield, SC a son of Baxter Jr. and Bernadine Diggs White. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, class of 1985 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Winthrop University. Mr. White was a retired member of the S.C. Army National Guard with 21 years of service. During that time he was actively deployed serving in the Operation Iraqi Freedom in the U.S. Army. A decorated veteran, Major White was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Major White served as the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11251 in Chesterfield, SC.
Buck was employed with Sandhill Telephone as a Central Office Installer with over 17 years of service and attended Chesterfield Baptist Church. Although his military career was a vital part of his life, Buck’s first priority was to his family. Being a loving and supporting dad to his daughters was his true passion. From each sporting event to each dance recital, he was always there.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his brother, David C. White, and 1 niece, Huntley Sophia White.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Leigh Ann White of the home; children, Ashtan White and Krystan White; parents, Baxter Jr. and Bernadine White; 1 brother, Dennis White all of Chesterfield, SC; 1 sister, Tami (Ricky) Grice of Cheraw, SC; nephews, Brad, Emerson, and Carlyle; nieces, Amber and Abi Gail.
All active and retired military personnel and Buck’s extended family at Sandhill telephone are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
