DECEASED: Ms. Margaret Oliver White, age 80, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Chesterfield General Hospital.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM, Monday, January 12, 2009 at Chesterfield Baptist Church

INTERMENT: will follow the services at Chesterfield Cemetery

VISITATION: The family will receive friends at the residence.

HISTORY: Mrs. White was born September 15, 1928 in Chesterfield, South Carolina, the eldest daughter of the late Charles Grayland and Bessie Melton Oliver. She was married to the late Frank Ellison White who died in 2005. She was an honor graduate of Chesterfield High School, a member of the Class of 1945. Upon graduation from high school, she began a career with the Chesterfield County Auditor's Office that spanned more than forty-three years. She retired from office in 1989 after having been elected Chesterfield County Auditor for three terms. Upon retirement from public office, she joined the staff of the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home where she served until 2006.

A two-time cancer survivor, Mrs. White was actively involved in the Chesterfield County Relay for Life where she was recognized as the county's top fundraiser.

She was a lifelong member of Chesterfield Baptist Church where she was a choir member and a former Sunday school teacher, and where seven generations of her family have worshipped.

2 Sons: Frank Ellison White, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Columbia, SC, and Charles Michael White and his wife, Suzanne of Chesterfield, SC
1 Daughter: Susan W. Cassidy and her husband, Billy, of Chesterfield, SC
6 Grandchildren: Elizabeth W. Bennett, Rebecca W. Prevatte, Sarah Catherine Cassidy, Molly Elizabeth Cassidy, Frank Ellison White, III, and Barton Randall White.
2 Step Grandchildren: Adam and Mark Gregory
4 Great Grandchildren: Garrett Michael White, Greer Elizabeth Bennett, and Sophia Lachlann and Eleanor Alexia Prevatte
3 Step Great Grandchildren: Jillian Elise Bennett, Ariel and John Gregory
1 Sister: Jean Oliver Wortham of Belton, SC
She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Oliver Webb, of Columbia, SC
