HISTORY: Mrs. Tolson was born February 8, 1915 in Patrick, SC a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Jane Jordan Gainey. She was employed as a beautician for over 57 years and was owner and operator of Marie's Beauty Shop. Marie was a faithful member of Patrick Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 72 years. Mrs. Tolson loved her community and was a very loving and caring individual. She had a servant's heart, and enjoyed visiting the sick, cooking for friends and neighbors, writing letters and notes of encouragement to her friends weekly, and serving her community any way she could. She was honored by the Town of Patrick on numerous occasions as a regular rider in the Town of Patrick's annual Christmas parade, including one time on a motorcycle. Mrs. Tolson remained active to the very end and enjoyed attending Northeastern TEC senior credit courses with her senior friends. The members of the SC House of Representatives officially declared Sunday, February 5, 2012 to be "Ms. Marie Tolson Day" throughout South Carolina as she celebrated her 97th birthday with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by her husbands, Brunson Hendrix, Sr., and Chesley Tolson; three daughters, Sandra Hendrix, Margaret Hendrix, and Mary Catherine Tolson; two sons, Joel A. Hendrix and Otis Hendrix; two brothers, Otis Gainey and James Gainey; two sisters, Pauline Tolson and Lillie Wilkes; and two grandsons, Brunson W. Hendrix and Michael Hendrix.

3 Sons: Brunson (Paulette) Hendrix, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Elmer R. "Jack" (Dorothy) Hendrix of West Columbia, SC and Jerry Lee Hendrix of Patrick, SC
Son-in-law: Weldon "Snookie" Tolson of Patrick, SC
Daughter-in-law: Elena Hendrix of West Columbia, SC
Also 14 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 11 Great, Great Grandchildren
