Martha Blanche Sullivan Miles

Mrs. Martha Blanche Sullivan Miles, age 87, entered into rest on Friday, July 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 5:00 PM Monday, July 30, 2018 at Fork Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Bart Sistare and Rev. Dan Sullivan with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Miles was born August 5, 1930, in Jefferson, SC, a daughter of the late Levy Lucas and Leila Oliver Sullivan. A lifelong member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church, Martha Blanche served as former treasurer of the UMW, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. A lady who lived and practiced the Golden Rule, her passion was helping others, and she will be fondly remembered as a friend to all. Mrs. Miles was known by her siblings as the “glue” that held her family together and was revered as the matriarch of her family.

In addition to her parents, Martha Blanche was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Miles; brother, Olin Sullivan; sisters, Viola Gilmore, Camilla Rollins, Jean Jordan, and Sabren Reese.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Miles Gregory, and Sherry (Calvin) Johnson both of Jefferson, SC; grandson, Daniel Miles Gregory of Jefferson, SC; step-grandsons, Carroll Dean (Michelle) Gregory, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC, Thomas Calvin Johnson, Jr. of Jefferson, SC, and Joel Carey Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Joe Sullivan of Jefferson, SC, and Heyward (Brenda) Sullivan of Cheraw, SC; sister-in-law, Estelle Sullivan of Jefferson, SC; brother-in-law, David Jordan of Lancaster, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of Hospice of Chesterfield County, and to caregiver, Melissa Pope with Help at Home for the love and care shown to Martha Blanche and her family.
