Martha L. Douglas

Chesterfield, SC

Mrs. Martha L. Douglas, age 90, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at her son’s home. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Cordova Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC, by Pastor Doug Anderson.

Mrs. Douglas was born April 21, 1929, in Norwood, NC, a daughter of the late John Frank and Leveana Helms. Martha loved fishing, gardening, and flowers.  She also loved to crochet and watch wrestling, baseball, and fishing shows. Martha will be remembered as a caregiver to the people in the community who needed her help. She was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church in Chesterfield, SC.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Douglas was also preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Strickland; a son, William Strickland; and daughters, Ann Wright and Nancy Strickland.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Strickland of Lousiana, John (Cindy) Strickland and Frank (Nancy) Strickland all of Rockingham, NC; grandchildren, Matthew and John Strickland of Lousiana, Joseph (Deborah) Conner and Genna Conner all of Rockingham, NC, Scott Kimrey and Dennis Kimrey both of Charleston, SC, great-grandchildren, JoJo, Jolene, Dustin, Gavin, and Kannon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
