Mrs. Mary Leona “Miss Lee” Stancil Hancock, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Cross Roads Baptist Church by Dr. A.B. Brown, Rev. Keith Hinson, and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the committal service in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Center.

Mrs. Hancock was born May 12, 1927 in Mt. Croghan, SC a daughter of the late James Bennett Stancil and Bertha Steen Stancil. She was a retired LPN with Chesterfield County Home Health and a former nurse with the Perry Clinic. Miss Lee was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her bible and working in her flowers.

In addition to her parents, Leona was also preceded in death by her husband, Bert Hancock; 2 brothers, James Funderburk Stancil and William Perry “Dobber” Stancil; and 2 sisters, Clara Louise Jenkins and Reba Ovenia Stancil.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Janie Mae Stancil of Kannapolis, NC; 4 nieces, Jean (Ronnie) Chambers, and Mary Jenkins both of Mt. Croghan, SC, Brenda Stancil of Kannapolis, NC, and Ann Jenkins of Raleigh, NC; Nephew, William (Pam) Stancil of Chesterfield, SC; great nephews, Lee (Chrystie) Chambers of Cheraw, SC, Shaun Chambers of Mt. Croghan, SC, Chris (Ashley) Stancil of Ruby, SC, and Andrew Stancil of Jacksonville, FL; and great great niece, August Stancil.
