Mrs. Mary Lou Burr Crawley, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Gerald Rivers and Rev. Doug Huntsinger, with the eulogy being delivered by her grandson, Rev. Wesley Burr. The burial will follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Crawley was born April 21, 1929 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Will and Annie Sellers Rivers. She was a faithful member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, WMU Director, choir member, and VBS Director. She was a faithful pastor’s wife to her late husband, Rev. Charles Burr, and a dedicated prayer warrior. A lady with a Christ-like spirit, Mary Lou was always kind and speaking a word of encouragement to everyone she met. She was a very talented seamstress and also enjoyed working in her garden and fishing.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crawley was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Charles Burr, and W.F. “Hank” Crawley; step-daughter, Wanda Dixon; and brothers, Seabron, Horace, Jack O., Bill, Eugene, Gilbert, Rochel, and Jathan Rivers.
Survivors include her son, Wayne (Deena) Burr of Elgin, SC; step-son, Art (Dorothy) Crawley of VA; step-daugther, Elaine (Joe) Rogers of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Charles “Charlie” Wayne Burr, II, Rev. Wesley David (Caroline) Burr, Jacob Coleman Burr, Bridget (Bobby) Wilkerson, Jonathan Crawley, Jessica (Tyler) Frable, Travis (Sarah) Crawley, Bradley Crawley, Luke Crawley, Kimi (John) Pelt, Jennifer Rogers; great grandchildren, Kylie, Charlie Madison, Weston, Coleman, Judson, Kaitlyn, Dawson, McKenzie, Katie, Nadine, Elyse, Collin, Logan, Cameron, Zach, Adrianna, Sean, and Matthew; sisters, Lottie R. Brigman, and Sarah R. Brock of West Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
