Mrs. Mary Frances Purvis Raffaldt, age 74, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church by Dr. Ronnie Grizzle with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, October 8, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Chasity Triplett in Wadesboro, NC.

Mrs. Raffaldt was born January 29, 1947 in Wallace, SC a daughter of the late William P. Purvis, Sr. and Ollie Chavis Purvis. She was a retired CNA with Chesterfield General Hospital and a faithful member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church. Mary loved children, and her home was always open to all the neighborhood kids. They lovingly referred to her as “Ma.” She also enjoyed working in her flowers and was always there for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Raffaldt was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Robert Raffaldt; brothers, Jefferson B. Thompson, and Blease Purvis; daughters, Teresa R. Heun, and Mary Ann Smith; sons, Frederick Raffaldt, and Robert Raffaldt; grandson, Derek Smith; and 2 great granddaughters, Elaina Carnes, and Stevie Smith.

Survivors include her children, Cynthia Holden of Chesterfield, SC, Robin (Richard) Loftin of Albemarle, NC, and Susan (Mark) Conklin of Chesterfield, SC; daughter-in-law, Pamela Raffaldt of Norwood, NC; grandchildren, Chasity (Philip) Triplett, Jessica Carnes and fiancé, Jonathan, Cynthia (Ty) Stroud, Shannon Huneycutt, Eric R. Raffaldt, Alex Raffaldt, Candice (Bradley) Sibley, Zach P. Raffaldt, David (Ashley) Treece, T.J. (Holly) Scott, Bobby Richardson, Kayla (Mikey) Wongittilin, and Lilly Grooms; 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Anna Griffins, and Geraldine Haire both of Bennettsville, SC; Lynda Boyaman of Willard, NC, Hattie Liles of Rockingham, NC, and Ginger Ravenbark of Hamlet, NC; brothers, William P. Purvis, Jr. of Ellerbe, NC, and Arthur Lee Thompson of Wallace, SC.
