Matthew "Matt" Austin Burgess

Mr. Matthew “Matt” Austin Burgess, age 22, has entered into rest. A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, May 2, 2021 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Duane Stegall. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of John W. and Rita Burgess. The family requests those attending wear masks and observe Covid-19 precautions.

Mr. Burgess was born December 31, 1998 in Cheraw, SC a son of Kenneth Ray Burgess and Amanda Tipton. He was a 2019 graduate of Central High School and was employed with Mills Farms of Pageland. An avid outdoorsman, Matt enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his dirt bike, and spending time with his friends.

Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Cindy Stafford; and maternal grandfather, Ricky Tipton.

Survivors include his father, Kenneth Burgess of Pageland, SC; mother, Amanda Tipton of Chesterfield, SC; parents of the heart, John W. (Rita) Burgess of Pageland, SC; siblings, Tyler Burgess of Chesterfield, SC, Kenly Burgess, and Kalin Burgess both of Pageland, SC, Abbie Wilson of Chesterfield, SC, and Dameon Burgess of Cheraw, SC; paternal grandparents, John H. (Judy Mills) Burgess, and Dorothy Burgess both of Pageland, SC; aunt, Tammy (Daniel) Lamson of Chesterfield, SC; sisters of the heart, Brittany Burgess, and Bridget Burgess both of Pageland, SC; grandmother of the heart, Joann Burgess of Pageland, SC; and numerous cousins and friends.
