Mendel Maurice Gulledge

Pageland, SC

          Mr. Mendel Maurice Gulledge, age 80, entered into rest on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his home. It was his requests that no formal services be held.

          Mr. Gulledge was born August 7, 1942 in Ruby, SC a son of the late Garland Edward "Dock" Gulledge and Helen Mae Poston Gulledge. He was a graduate of Pageland High School and a life-long farmer. Mendel was self-employed his entire career in every type of construction there was. Outside of work, he also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and raising chickens. His greatest times in life were spent being “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren.

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Gulledge was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth G. “Lib” Burr, and Sheila Gaye Knaach; brothers-in-law, Wayne Davis, and Buck Burr.

          Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Judy Holley Gulledge of the home; children, Wendel (Sandy) Gulledge, and Twana G. Hymer (Rusty Gaytko) both of Pageland, SC; grandchildren, Krysta Bragg, Kalli Huggins, Tiffany Rape, Brianna Gulledge, John Cody Hymer, and Haylee S. Hymer; great grandchildren, Bailey, Hannah, Cameron, Miley, Rorie, Trinity, Emerson, Grayce, and Audrey; sisters, Sylvia G. (James) Bailey of Ruby, SC, and Margie Davis of Salisbury, NC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
