Mrs. Miriam Teal Goodale, age 82, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer surrounded by love with her husband holding one hand and daughter, Sheila holding the other. A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Fred McDaniel, Reverend Grover Johnson, and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Goodale was born October 22, 1940 in Cheraw, SC a daughter of the late Ferris and Ethel Lee Teal. She was a retired H.R. Manager with Cheraw Dyeing and Finishing with over 25 years of service and also the retired owner of The Casual Shoppe. Mrs. Goodale was a faithful member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. Miriam had a deep love for her family, friends, co-workers over the years, and all animals. A dedicated and hard worker, she was a very creative lady. She was also a very talented seamstress and an accomplished needle point craftsman.
Mrs. Goodale had an eye for interior design and always enjoyed a trip to the thrift and antique stores in search of a deal. Other hobbies included reading, gardening, and shopping. She enjoyed traveling abroad with her husband and in later years they enjoyed taking a ride throughout the countryside, as long as it was a road she had not yet traveled! Miriam was quick to talk about her special love for her great-great grandson, Reid; and her “side-kick,” Lily her pug. A lady who always put others first, even when she was physically unable, she did all she could to see that her husband’s health was addressed and taken care of while in the hospital. She loved him and doted on him until her final breath.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, W.M. Goodale, Sr. of the home; children, Sheila Goodale (Steve) Quick of Chesterfield, SC, and Walter McKenny “Ken” Goodale, Jr. of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Corey Quick of Chesterfield, SC, Emily Quick (Chris) Turner of Greenville, SC, and Walter McKenny Goodale, III of Wallace, SC; great grandchildren, Summer (Eli) Quick, Zach Oliver, Zane Johnson, and Luke Turner; great-great grandson, Reid Gulledge; and numerous cousins including special cousin and close friend, Billy Williams.
Memorials may be made to SPCA International, 242 W 30th St, New York, NY 10001 or to an animal rescue or humane society of one’s choice.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Goodale family.
