Mr. Prentiss Burch Evans passed away peacefully in San Jose, CA, on May 2, 2015. He was 76 years old.

Born in Chesterfield, SC on September 5, 1938, Prentiss was one of three children born to Robert and Barbara Evans. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Prentiss completed his military service, stationed in Dan Diego. He would quickly make the Bay Area his home, meeting the love of his life, Nicole. They settled in San Leandro for 27 years, raising their four children before moving to San Lorenzo 17 years ago. Prentiss was a devoted husband, father, and jack of all trades. He mastered several careers during his lifetime, including fuel technician, tow truck company owner and carpenter. Prentiss was a talented gardener, enjoyed cooking and above all, spending time with his family and friends.

Prentiss is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nicole M. Evans of San Lorenzo; children and their spouses, Kathy and Tony Gamboa; Karen and Mike Moses, Rob and Kristen Evans and Kimberly and Minor Gamboa: siblings, Ralph Evans and Barbara Ann Morris; grandchildren, Daniel and Marnie Vinella, Brian and Christina Vinella, Alex Gamboa, Nick and Teresita Gamboa, Ana Gamboa, Joey Gamboa and Andrew Moses; great grandchildren, Brian Jr., Vivian, Victoria and Gia; many loving extended family and cherished friends.

Visitation for Prentiss was held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from Noon to 3:00 PM at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Funeral services began at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 11, 2015, also at the mortuary. Prentiss was laid to rest with military honors at Lone Tree Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in his memory are preferred.
