Mrs. Myrtle Edwards Blackmon, age 82, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at her home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Pageland First Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jamie Gulledge and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Blackmon was born July 13, 1939 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Jesse and Eva Hilton Edwards. She was a dedicated homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, and working word search puzzles. Myrtle loved to dress up and would never be caught without her lipstick on. Her favorite outings included a meal at Mayfair Seafood and a stop at Krispy Kreme. A lady who loved her family deeply, her greatest enjoyment was found in time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackmon was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Benjamin Franklin “Ben” Blackmon; son, David F. “Little Ben” Blackmon; sisters, Grace E. Gulledge, and Lucille E. Brewer; brothers, J.D. Edwards, and James Edwards; daughter-in-law, Cindy Jenkins Blackmon; brother-in-law, Dillon Melton; nephew, Daryl Edward Melton; and close friend and companion, Maurice Foltz.
Survivors include her children, Mark C. (Bobby Jo Brady) Blackmon of Pageland, SC, and Sherry (Ricky) Hancock of Mt. Croghan, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Hancock, Erika (David) Miles, Chris (Lisa Helms) Blackmon, Amanda (Isaiah) Byars, and Tyler Blackmon; great grandchildren, Bryson Horne, Camden Blakeney, Jackson Miles, and Dillon Blakeney; brother, Jerry Wayne Edwards of Pageland, SC; sister, Betty Edwards Melton of Pageland, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Wayne (Cheryl) Melton.
The family is grateful for the assistance of Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Chesterfield, and requests that memorials be made in Mrs. Blackmon’s memory to their organization, 205 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
