Opal Marscelle Brock Rivers

 Cheraw, SC

Mrs. Opal Marscelle Brock Rivers, age 88, entered into rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Jamie Gulledge and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Brock’s Mill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rivers was born February 9, 1936 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late James A. and Cassie B. Teal Brock. She was a retired employee of Weller Industries with 20 years of service and a former seamstress with Saucony for many years. Mrs. Rivers was a member of Brock’s Mill Baptist Church. The cornerstone of her family, Marscelle loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. She delighted in hosting family get togethers and cooking for everyone. She also enjoyed growing her vegetable garden each year, working in her flowers, sewing, and traveling to the beach with family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rivers was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie “C.M.” Rivers; sons, James Manning Rivers, and Robert Wayne Rivers; daughter, Kathy R. Gainey; sons-in-law, Bryan Gainey, and Brooks Boan; and sister, Ruby Martin.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie Boan, Teresa (Tim) Rivers, and Michelle (Chris) Ross all of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Charlene Blackman of Wallace, SC, Crystal (Chris) Brock, Daniel (Holly) Rivers, Bryant Rivers, Anna Boan (Trey Dordal), Tyler (Melissa) Ross, and Samantha Ross all of Cheraw, SC; great grandchildren, Clayton (Sera) Brock, Cole Brock, Kayla Blackman, Matthew Reep, Avery Blackman, Sara Blackman, Charlie Rivers, and Miles Rivers; 9 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she helped to raise and treated as her own children.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
