Paul E. Demby

Mr. Paul E. Demby, age 83, entered into rest on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM September 17, 2023 at Almetta Baptist Church by Reverend Jeff Steen with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his daughter, Christina Cook, Johnson Road, Jefferson, SC.

Mr. Demby was born October 21, 1939 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late Robert and Maggie Jewett Demby. He was an employee of Caro-Knit of Jefferson and a former employee of Springs Industries. Paul was a faithful charter member of Almetta Baptist Church, where he served as former deacon. He enjoyed fishing and was a skilled mechanic who enjoyed working on cars. Paul loved the Lord and his family deeply, and always enjoyed family get togethers and dinners.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Demby was also preceded in death by his son, Gilbert Lee Demby; son-in-law, Michael Cook; grandson, Nicholas Deese; and brothers, Floyd, J.W., George, and Fred Demby.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 64 years, Margie Oliver Demby of the home; children, Paula Demby Polk of Monroe, NC, Phyllis Demby (Robbie) Deese of Rutherfordton, NC, Barbie Demby (Randy) Gordon of Pageland, SC, Brenda Demby (Mark) Sullivan, and Christina Demby Cook both of Jefferson, SC; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

 The family is grateful for the exceptional care Mr. Paul received from the staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield.
