DECEASED: Mr. Paul Edward Snipes, age 79, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at his home.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2007, at White Oak Presbyterian Church

INTERMENT: in the Church Cemetery.

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday September 27, 2007, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mr. Snipes was born September 10, 1928, in Charlotte, N.C., a son of the late John Henry and Blanche Watts Snipes. He was a graduate of Ruby High School and a retired shipping supervisor with J.P. Stevens with 40 years of service. He received the first employee of the Year Award in 1989 from J.P. Stevens. Paul was a faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and choir member. He was also a former member and deacon of Douglas Mill Baptist Church. Mr. Snipes also served on the Board of Trustees of the Douglas Mill Cemetery Association, the building committee of the Douglas Mill Fellowship Building, and was a Watchman Representative for Hospice of Chesterfield County. Paul was an avid collector and restorer of classic Chevrolets and was best known for his 1955 Chevrolet convertible, which was used in the movie Shag. He received numerous awards throughout the Southeast for his classic cars. He also enjoyed farming and fishing. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Douglas Snipes, 3 brothers, Harold, Billy, and Leon Snipes and by 2 sisters, Johnsie Brantley and Mary Bess.


SURVIVORS: 4 Daughters: Patsy (John) Gilbert, Becky (Gene) Marsh, Cathy (Don) Baker, and
Alice (Ricky) Todd all of Chesterfield, SC
2 Brothers: Sammy Snipes of Pageland, SC and Claude Snipes of Longview. TX

3 Sisters: Laura Baker and Rachel Lewis both of Columbia, SC and Drula Hess of Las Vegas, NV

8 Grandchildren: Daniel (Erin) Marsh, Rachel (Shawn) Cheema, Richard (Susan) Todd, Bridget Logan,
Phillip Gilbert, Tamara (Paul) Barefoot, Sarah Baker, and Adrienne Baker

Also 9 Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Richard, John Luke, and Adam Marsh, Dylan Oliver, Mason Logan, Natalie Todd, and Taylor and Collin Cheema.
