Mrs. Peggy Oliver Lynn, age 82, entered into rest on Saturday, January 12, 2019 with her loving family by her bedside. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 PM Monday, January 14, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. George Brasington and Rev. David Sanders with burial to follow in the Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1616 McBee Highway, Kershaw, SC. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Angie and Rev. David Sanders, 3944 Johnson Rd, Jefferson, SC.
Mrs. Lynn was born October 9, 1936 in Camden, SC a daughter of the late Clyde and Thelma Johnson Oliver. A former employee of Caro-knit, Peggy worked for many years as a store clerk at the country convenience stores owned by Isaac Sullivan, Leverne Knight, Howard Miller, and Chuck Raley. She was a true people person who never met a stranger and enjoyed working in the convenience stores always offering a smile and conversation. Mrs. Lynn was known as the family care-giver, selflessly giving of her time and energy to help anyone. She was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church of Kershaw. Peggy was also an avid NASCAR fan and would let anyone know that Dale Earnhardt was her favorite driver.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by husband, John Carroll Lynn; 2 sons, Robert Oliver Lynn and John Carroll “Mutt” Lynn, Jr.; brothers, Leroy “Bud” Oliver, Alfred “Buster” Oliver, Larry “Gene” Oliver, Jimmy Oliver, and Donnie Oliver.
Survivors include her sister, Nita Oliver (Jackie) Horton of Bethune, SC; children of the heart, Jimmy Oliver, Jr. and Denise Carol Oliver both of the home; Tonya M. Oliver of Jefferson, SC, Mitzi A. Oliver of Pageland, SC, Melissa O. Grigg of Monroe, NC, and Jennifer Leann Matthews of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter of the heart, Stephanie Grigg of Monroe, NC; also numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the McWhorter Hospice House of Union County for the love and care shown to Mrs. Lynn and her family and requests memorials be made in her memory to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd.
